The importance of an AVI player
The AVI format was introduced by Microsoft way back in 1992. The full form of AVI is Audio Video Interleave and it allows audio and video to be stored in a multimedia format easily. Multiple streaming audio and video is also possible with AVI file extensions, but these features are not used very often. What AVI is however used for regularly is to play video and audio in PC’s. Of course, to do this an AVI player is needed.
A lot of people who are novices in the field of digital entertainment are flummoxed at their inability to play audio and video files on their computer. This is usually because they have not downloaded an AVI player to play the files. Playing an AVI file actually requires 2 things: a codec and a AVI player. As said earlier, the AVI is nothing but the format and a codec is required to ‘decode’ the format and play it. This is because the person who has put the file inside the AVI has ‘coded’ it and the person who wants to open it needs to ‘decode’ it.
The fact is that there are quite a few thousands of codecs available in the world and choosing the right one for a particular file could have been a daunting task. But that shouldn’t be a cause for worry because this is where an AVI player comes into play. In today’s times, an AVI player can play any kind of audio or video that is in the AVI format. Downloading an AVI player from the internet resource is easy as well.
